Under the impression that eating vegan equates with eating a boring raw veggie diet? Or are you just curious about what eating vegan REALLY entails?
You might want to hike on down and visit the “DC VegFest” on Saturday, September 20th from 11 am to 6 pm in the parking lots ( Lot H/I ) which is just across from DC Nationals Baseball Stadium (Intersection of N St. SE and First St. S)
Admission to the event is FREE! And you might be in for some surprises which could change your assumptions about eating vegan!
In addition to tons of FREE FOOD SAMPLES from some of favorite companies, including Tofurky, So Delicious, and Nature’s Path, DC VEGFEST has more than 2 dozen restaurant vendors dedicated to dishing out delicious vegan cuisine.
There’s one surefire way to guarantee a great day at this annual vegetarian celebration: Come Hungry!
In fact, you’d better bring your appetite and a few extra hands to help carry stuff home. Here’s a brief overview to help you start planning your day:
Local hotspot Bread & Brew will be serving up nachos in a Frisbee (yep, you heard that right!) and Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats, winner of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, will have baked goodies you won’t be able to resist. Whether its soul food from Woodland’s Vegan Bistro you desire, something more exotic like Ethiopian fare from Dama, or cashew cheese from Treeline, we’ve got you covered!
And our favorite out-of-towners, Vegan Treats, are traveling all the way from Pennsylvania to impress you with their animal-friendly confections.
What’s new this year? Local vegan favorite Vegetable Garden will be at the DC VegFest for the first time cooking up fresh, organic cuisine.Busboys & Poets will also be there for the first time, and they’ll be serving up brand new vegan sliders that aren’t even on their restaurant menus yet. A small start-up, Stefwiches is launching its public debut at our event, and more!
With 26 restaurant vendors and 20 additional food exhibitors vying for your (belly’s!) attention, everyone will find something to enjoy.
Come hungry, leave happy. That’s the DC VegFest guarantee.
