Beer Bread is one of the best and easiest and comparatively fail proof recipes in my repertoire. It pretty reliably amazes my guests (even more sowhen they find out how easy it is to make…) The result tastes like REAL bread! (I’ve tried “soda breads” and the results are in a whole different park – they don’t have the fresh bread moisture and texture that this beer bread has.)
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon Baking Powder
3 tablespoon Sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 12 oz can/bottle of beer (ideally room temp, I’ve found just about any beer will work)
Preheat oven to 375
In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients
Add the beer all at once!
Mix just enough so that all the dry stuff has been mixed with the beer
Depending on the dryness of the flour (and exactness of measurements!), I sometimes add a little more water (or a little more beer!) so that dry ingredients end up wet! Definitely a choice point chef judgment!)
Don’t worry about lumps – they happen, they’re fine!
Pour into a 9×5 loaf pan
Bake for 40 minures
Voila!!!!!!! You’ve got delicious bread to eat!
Sometimes I like to add toasted sesame (or try caraway) seed to the batter and sprinkle more on top just before baking
If you want, brush the top lightly with melted butter after you get it in the loaf pan
