On a whim of my friend Tom, we tried Nora’s Kabob. Nora and the staff are of Armenian origin and take great pride in their food. The small dining room with just about 12 tables is surprisingly stylish and pleasant with polished spotless wooden floors and tables, warm earth tones and clocks displaying global times. Surprisingly, this is not a “fast food” type operation – Nora’s has a waits staff of some friendly and attractive young men who take your order and deliver it to your table. Not exactly at all what you’d expect from a small storefront in a strip mall on Rte 40 about a miles west of Rte 29…
We had kabobs and a gyro; they were excellent – while they are typically served with rice or salad, our waiter easily obliged our request for some of both (which was a good move on our part!)
I spied a couple having the greek salads (they looked delicious)
I’ve brought my buddy Jerry who grew up in Lebanon, has vacationed in Armenia and is of Armenian heritage to Nora’s; He can be pretty harsh because few middle eastern places can come up to the standards of the meals his mom made him – BUT he gave Nora’s a “Thumbs Up!” and has made the trek from Laurel to Ellicott City several times! That’s saying something! <Smile>
